Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Additional Developments
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a series of missiles," it added.
It said missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
